An important part of PROGNOS is the collection of high frequency automated monitoring data that can be used to run and check our water quality models. Despite our best efforts, this data collection is not completely without hazard. Here we show the effect of lake ice being pushed up on to the shore of a small island in Lake Erken where we monitor the meteorological data used by the PROGNOS lake model. The wind that caused this gusted to 17 m/s and was blowing from the North, which is directly towards the shore of the island. Luckily, none of the meteorological measurements used by PROGNOS seem to have been affected.
